Shared Ownership, Shared Strength

FROM SMALL STEPS TO GIANT LEAPS

At MarketPlace, every decision is guided by a powerful mission: to provide women with opportunities to earn, grow, and thrive. Each garment is adorned with hand embroidery, which not only offers unique value to our customers but also creates meaningful work for the artisans. This craft allows women to work flexible hours from home, enabling them to balance their professional and personal responsibilities.

The women operate through self-managed cooperatives, where they collectively determine work hours, workflow, and schedules that align with their individual needs and group priorities. This model fosters empowerment, builds community, and contributes to their personal growth. It gives them a voice and enhances their status within their families and communities.

But it doesn't stop there. Running a business comes with daily challenges, and many cooperative managers have little formal education. Yet they rise to the task with resilience and problem-solving. Each cooperative works closely with a dedicated MarketPlace Mumbai staff member to coordinate product development, production, and operations.

Supporting 12 cooperatives--each with its own team, rhythm, and goals--requires patience, collaboration, and a deep commitment to the mission. But the results are powerful: women taking charge of their livelihoods, lifting up their families, and creating garments that carry not just style, but strength.

Every item you buy from MarketPlace carries that impact. It represents the hands, choices, and determination of women who are shaping a more equitable future--one stitch at a time.
