Armaan Club Kids Choose Role Models

Children 12 years and older were asked to choose role models, research and learn about their lives, their vision and what they had accomplished. They were then asked to prepare an article or PowerPoint Presentation.

"I chose Sarojini Naidu because she helped liberate women and was part of the fight for India's independence. She travelled delivering lectures on social welfare, women's empowerment and nationalism. She also helped to establish the Women's Indian Association (WIA) in 1917." -- Ujala Gupta

"Kalpana Chawla is my role model because she is a person who thought for her dreams and realized them. She is a very courageous lady. She was the first Indian women to go to space. Chawla died in the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster which occurred on February 1, 2003." -- Priya Vishwakarma

"Aruna Roy inspires me to do something for Society. She brought many changes in the society and played an important role in establishing the Right To Information Act. Aruna Roy is an Indian social activist who co-founded the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathana (MKSS), a social and grassroots organization for the empowerment of workers and peasants." -- Shahil

My role model is Mother Teresa, she is one of the most inspiring people in the world. Mother Teresa cared about others that were in need. She did not have any selfish bone in her body. As Mother Teresa once said, 'Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.'" -- Trupti
