Batik Block Printing

The ancient art of Indian block printing includes distinctive regional styles. In all cases it is a labor–intensive, exacting craft. Teak wood blocks are hand carved with a variety of motifs and there is a wooden handle for the artisan to hold while stamping the cloth. The design can be dipped in dye and stamped directly. However, for Batik block printing the design is stamped with a wax resist which will block the dye when the fabric is dipped in dye. Multiple stampings and dyeing can produce complex patterns and colors. The wax is removed by melting it in very hot water, and the melted wax can be reused. Skilled artisans can combine different techniques to create uniquely beautiful fabrics.

Miran-Knee Length Duster Jacket

I just got my Miran duster so have only worn it once so far. I love it. I wore it over my Ashika long shirt to ward off the ocean cool at night at an outdoor symphony concert. It was perfect. I love the pattern of the print and the style, and the fact that it's long past my waist. I expect I will be using it a lot when I'll want long sleeves and an extra light layer at the end of the day. I live in Marketplace India outfits during the summer. I'm so glad you have them available to us!

Gorgeous Duster: runs large

LOVE this!
It's lightweight, the embroidery work is classy and I love the muted mixed prints. However, be aware that as mentioned - this piece runs large. Based on the measurements provided (READ THESE, so you are not disappointed !), I ordered a small - even though I generally wear a medium or a large - and it fits me perfectly. It's almost too long, but the hem on the size small hits me where the photo indicates. (I am 5'4') For Fall it will be just fine.
