Small Steps. Big Impact.
Plastic is everywhere—from packaging to daily household items—and it's easy to forget just how harmful it can be. But the women artisans in Mumbai are proving that change starts small, and it starts with them.
Reviving India's long tradition of reuse and repair, the women launched the “Zero Waste” initiative through our Social Action program. They began by learning about the environmental cost of plastic—and then moved into action. They stitched cloth bags and gave them away. They visited local shops to raise awareness. They collected plastic from their homes, even when space was scarce, and set up weekly recycling pickups in their neighborhoods.
It's not just about cleaning up—it's about taking ownership, leading by example, and inspiring others. When the recycling van arrives each week, it's more than a pickup—it's a celebration of determination, community, and progress.
