Young Minds, Bright Lights: A Diwali Celebration

70 children of artisans, ranging from 1st to 9th grade, participated in engaging Diwali‐themed activities.

Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a major Indian celebration symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil. The festivities included crafting intricate paper lanterns and creating colorful rangoli (decorative floor art made with colored powders), encouraging teamwork and artistic expression. A storytelling session brought Diwali's significance to life, as the children enthusiastically retold key episodes from the Ramayana, a classic Indian epic.

Led by dedicated women mentors, the event was thoughtfully planned and executed, fostering creativity, cultural appreciation, and collaboration. The children left with a sense of pride and joy, celebrating both the artistry and deeper meaning of the festival.
