Designing Woman
When Mehmoda began as an embroidery artisan 25 years ago, she was unsure of herself: "I would not have believed I had the talent to design embroidery." But staff workers and her fellow artisans recognized that she had skills, imagination and leadership potential. Today she creates original designs for the design workshops. She was also one of 5 artisan who traveled to Kutch for special training. Kutch is famous for fine needlework and Mehmoda was inspired to continue to develop and improve her craft.

More beautiful than pictured

This was my third order from Marketplace Handwork of India and my favorite one yet. The shirt is more beautiful than pictured online or in the print catalog, in a more vibrant array of pinkish-lilacs and pinkish-strawberry hues. The cotton fabric has a smooth, almost silky feel. For info, I am 6'/180 cm tall, about 125 pounds, and the small is nicely roomy without being too voluminous. Looking forward to weather warm enough to wear it and really glad that I made this purchase.
